Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s Meeting

July 15, 2024

The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on July 15, 2024.

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman, Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to approve the June 17, 2024 minutes as presented. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved by Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. to be filed for audit. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Penn State Health Life Lion EMS had a total of 159 dispatches for the month of June, in the Northern York Division. Six of those were in Washington Township. 5 were handled by Penn State Health. Northern York County Fire and EMS had 47 calls for the month of June. 5 calls were in the Township. Wellsville Fire Company had 31 calls for the month, 2 were in Washington Township. Northeast Adams Fire & EMS had 34 calls in June, 2 were in the Township.

Vince Brown, Assistant Chief of Wellsville Fire Company reported that next month is Wellsville’s annual Firemen’s Carnival. Lots of prep work is being done.

Subdivision Plans:

No plans were presented.

Business from the Floor:

There was no business from the floor.

Old Business:

Solicitor Sharon Myers is still working on updates with the Fire Chief Ordinance. She is waiting on some information from Northern York Fire & EMS Assistant Chief Kuykendall.

Supervisors asked Solicitor Myers to review the sample Municipal Waste Ordinance. They would like to move forward with this issue. This will not be a mandatory collection for residents but should help to reduce the cost of trash collection for the residents who do have trash collection.

Solicitor Myers will also review the Short-Term Rental Ordinance and the Nuisance Ordinance so that all three ordinances can be advertised at the same time.

New Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to adopt Resolution 2024-06 endorsing and celebrating the 250th anniversary of both the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as the 275th birthday of York County. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Sharon Myers did not have anything else to discuss.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $42,969.45 and the State Account totaling $65,155.97. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:21 P.M. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
