The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on December 16, 2013.

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved as read.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Dillsburg EMS responded to 90 calls for the month of November with 1 in Washington Township. Franklintown Fire Company responded to 31 calls for the month with 1 in the township. Wellsville Fire Company responded to 20 calls total for the month with 2 in the township. There was no report from East Berlin Fire Company.

Subdivision Plans:

Richard Leathery from 123 Red Run Church Rd, East Berlin, presented his plans to purchase property from his brother at 117 Red Run Church Rd and do an add on to his property. He will then subdivide his property making two lots. The Planning Commission advised him to attend the Supervisor’s Meeting because of building right concerns. Solicitor Sharon Myers explained the vagueness of the township’s ordinance with regards to building lots for property existing as of 1977. It states 3 lots for 0-30 acres in size. Mr. Leathery was advised to take his plans back to the Planning Commission for their approval and signatures and then bring signed plans back to the Supervisors.

Business from the Floor:

Resident Tina Gleim, who is on the Planning Commission, asked if they could have the fifth member position filled. She also asked if a legal disclaimer could be read before the Planning Commission’s meetings stated they are an advisory board and can not be legally held responsible for errors. Solicitor Sharon Myers will write something up.

Old Business:

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. reported that Comcast will not be running new lines for Kralltown Road or Ridge Road. He was informed it would cost Comcast $27,000.00 per mile for overhead lines or $42,000.00 per mile for underground lines. There are not enough residents to cover the cost.

New Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor announced the 2014 Reorganizational Meeting is scheduled for January 6, at 3:30 P.M.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Sharon Myers reminded everyone of the Right-to-Know seminar being held at her York office on January 29.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to pay bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $5,007.72 and the State Account totaling $584.84. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:01 P.M. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr seconded the motion.

Respectfully Submitted,

Diane Deardorff, Secretary/Treasurer
