Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s Meeting

May 18, 2015

The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on May 18, 2015.

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved as read.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Dillsburg EMS responded to 115 calls for the month of April with 9 in Washington Township. Franklintown Fire Company responded to 31 calls with 5 in the township. Wellsville Fire Company responded to 25 calls total with 6 calls in the township. Assistant Fire Chief Corey Lease of East Berlin Fire Company reported 33 calls for the month with 3 in the township and the ambulance responded to 69 calls and 11 were in the township.

Subdivision Plans:

No plans were presented.

Business from the Floor:

There was no business from the floor.

Old Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor reminded residents of the June 1st deadline for Ag Security Applications to be turned in to the office.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. stated that when the Subdivision plans for the Kaufman Farm are presented to the township, the comment must be added to the plans that no building right remains with either subdivision.

New Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the information provided to the township for senior resident’s eligibility for a $20.00 Farmers Market Voucher. He also announced the re-opening of the Dillsburg Farmers Market for the summer.

Supervisor McGregor informed residents that a Community Aid Clothing Bin has been placed at the Recycling Center on Bentz Mill Rd. The township will receive money for every pound of clothing donated. A resident questioned what the money will be used for. The Supervisors will wait to see what kind of money they receive before they decide what they will use it for.

At 8:00 P.M. Supervisor Dan McGregor opened the only bid for paving on Pine Ridge Rd. The bid was from Wilson Paving for $108,560.00. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to award the bid to Wilson Paving. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion. Supervisor Dan McGregor opened the only bid for various fuels from Edris Oil Service. He made a motion to award the bid to them using the fluctuating price. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the bid.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Sharon Myers reported that York County is on schedule to finalize the new Flood Insurance Maps. The Township will need to adopt the maps by amending the current Floodplain Ordinance. She also reported that she will soon provide the township with the updated Reality Transfer Tax Ordinance to comply with all the changes made by the state. She informed the Supervisors that they can update the township’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance to include Recreation Fees. These fees would be charge to new buildings and the money can now be used for donations to Senior Centers. As soon as all of these ordinance are ready, she will group them all together for advertising purposes.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $8,279.61 and the State Account totaling $8,402.11. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:09 P.M. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
