The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on February 20, 2023.

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to approve the January minutes and the Special Meeting on February 6. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

The Treasurer’s report was read. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to approved the report as read and file for audit. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Northern York County Fire Rescue EMS responded to 44 calls for the month of January, 2 were in the Washington Township. Wellsville Fire Company responded to 34 calls for the month, 2 were in the Township. Northeast Adams Fire & EMS responded to 28 calls and 1 was in the Township.

Wellsville Fire Company President Sandy Brown presented the latest Fire Company meeting minutes and the Warrington Township’s Comprehensive Fire Assessment Study. She added that they will have fund raisers every weekend in March. Vince Brown reported for Keith Kuykendall for Northern York County Fire and EMS that he is still working on Box Numbers. There are only a few changes.

Subdivision Plans:

There were no subdivision plans.

Business from the Floor:

Lieutenant Spingler with Pennsylvania State Police reported on calls in Washington township since July of 2022. He noted that there were 20 MVA’s, 1 fatal crash, 2 burglaries, 3 criminal mischiefs , 5 fraud or forgery and a few other issues. He asked the residents if they had any concerns and everyone agreed that speed is the biggest issue in the Township, mainly on Rt 194. He said he will pass that information on.

Old Business:

The Supervisors discussed the proposed Ordinance 2023-01 appointing a Fire Chief for the Township.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adopt Ordinance 2023-01. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to appoint Holden McGregor as Fire Chief for Washington Township. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

New Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to set the dates for Spring Clean-Up for Wednesday and Thursday, April 19th & 20th from 7:00 until 3:30 and Saturday, April 22nd, 8:00 until 12:00. They will be closed Friday. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor thanked Jeff Propps for filling in as Supervisor for the rest of the year, after the death of Supervisor Ralph McGregor.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Sharon Myers stated she had nothing to discuss at this time.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $5,723.82 and the State Account totaling $5,444.74. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:18 P.M.
