The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on February 20, 2012.
Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
The Treasurer’s report was read and approved as read.
Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Dillsburg EMS responded to 108 calls for the month of January with 2 in Washington Township. Franklintown Fire Company responded to 1 call in the township. There was no report from Wellsville Fire Company or East Berlin Fire Company.
Subdivision Plans:
Brenda Myers was present as the representative for St. Paul’s (Red Run) Church and Cemetery. She was advised by the Township’s Planning Commission to attending the Supervisor’s Meeting in regards to the cemetery subdivision from the church. As per comment #2 from York County Planning Commission, the
required setbacks can not be meet which requires a variance from the Township’s Zoning Hearing Board. The Supervisors advised Brenda to apply for a Zoning Hearing and the Supervisors stated they will wave the fee for the Hearing. Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to have the Secretary sign the Non-Building Waiver. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.
Business from the Floor:
Resident Don Miller inquired about the subdivision of the Sultzbaugh farm. His daughter and son-in law are interested in a lot after his son-in law’s family purchases the property. They want to put the lots back on the main farm and take one smaller lot off for them. He asked for approval for them to live in the existing house until a new home is built. At that time they will acquire a demolition permit for the existing home. The Supervisors see no problem with his proposal and advised him to obtain the steps for subdivision from the Zoning Officer, to begin the procedure.
Old Business:
Supervisor Jeff Propps reported that he is reediting the zoning ordinances and will submit them as an official document to the York County Planning Commission. He figures it will probably take 4 to 5 months before they are approved.
The Supervisors informed Jerre Miller that a timer was placed on the lights at Mountain Ridge Church.
New Business:
The Supervisors set Spring Clean-up dates as followed. April 25 & 26 from 8:00 A.M until 4:30 P.M. and April 27, from 8:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
Supervisor Dan McGregor read call box changes for Dillsburg EMS for medical assist instructions per request by Franklintown Fire Company Chief, Mike Whitzel. Also changes for East Berlin Fire Company to have the York County Advanced Tactical Rescue Team added to their responses for incidents that may require these services. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to sign the call box changes. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. presented prices for the purchase of a 2012 pick up truck to replace the old yellow Chevy truck. The prices were through the Costars program with Hondru Fleet and Apple Automotive Fleet. Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to purchase the truck from Apple at a purchase price of $22,413.00. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
Solicitor’s Report:
Solicitor Sharon Myers reported that some municipalities are starting to adopt the County’s Stormwater Management Ordinance. She will review them and present something for Washington Township in the near future. She also supplied a package of information from York County Cable Consortium for townships whose franchise agreement will expire in the near future. The Supervisors stated they think they have another 10 years yet before their agreement expires so no action will be taken now.
Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to pay the bills as presented. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.
