The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on September 16, 2013

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved as read.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Dillsburg EMS responded to 126 calls for the month of August with 2 in Washington Township. Franklintown Fire Company responded to 28 calls for the month with 3 in the township. Wellsville Fire Company responded to 16 calls total for the month with 1 in the township. There was no report from East Berlin Fire Company.

Subdivision Plans:

There were no plans presented for the month.

Business from the Floor:

Tom Hagens, representing Marion Hagens of 116 Big Dam Rd requested a reverse subdivision for parcels LC-13B & LC-13F. Supervisors agreed to have a letter written to confirm this and noted no building rights are left with this property.

Old Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor reminded residents that Fall Clean-up is scheduled for October 2 & 3, from 8:00A.M. until 3:30P.M.

Supervisor Jeff Propps reported that he has finished updating the SALDO and will be available for the Planning Commission to review and the other Supervisors.

 

New Business:

The date for the Budget Meeting Preparation is scheduled for Monday, October 7th at 9:00 A.M. The Secretary will advertise the notice in the paper.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to renew the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce Membership for 2013-2014. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to attend the York County Association of Townships Convention on November 14, at the York Expo Center. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

After reviewing the bids for a new furnace, Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to award the bid to Zimmerman’s Heating & Air Conditioning because of the brand of furnace and the warranty. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Solicitor’s Report:

Lee Ann Miller, representative for Solicitor Sharon Myers, presented the Supervisors with sample copies of ordinances pertaining to grass/weeds and other nuisances. Also she reported only one (1) subdivision plan will be needed by Richard Leathery of Red Run Church Rd, to purchase land to add to his and then subdivide that parcel into two (2) lots.

She said research was done on Karen Benn’s property on Ridge Rd regarding building rights but nothing was ever recorded. She explained Act 36 of 2013 allowing electronic notices to be given to landowners, only if they provide a correct email address to the township. Supervisors want notification by regular mail to continue.

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to pay bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $8,172.58 and the State Account totaling $6,311.94. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:53 P.M. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
