Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s Meeting

May 20, 2024

The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on May 20, 2024.

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to approve the April 15th minutes as presented. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved by Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr to be filed for audit. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Penn State Health Life Lion had 156 dispatches for the month of April. 7 of those were in Washington Township, 6 were handled by Penn State. Northern York County Fire Rescue EMS had 28 calls in April, 2 were in the Township. Wellsville Fire Company had 20 calls, 3 were in the Township. Northeast Adams Fire & EMS had 27 calls in April, 1 was in the Township.

Wellsville Fire Company Assistant Chief, Vince Brown, stated interviews are over for paid fighters. They plan to hire 1 firefighter to work 6:00 A.M- 2:00 P.M. and the 2nd firefighter to work 8:00 A.M- 4:00 P.M.

Subdivision Plans:

Resident Byron Waggoner submitted an application to transfer a building right from Parcel KD-30 at 660 Kralltown Rd to Parcel KD-29 638 Kralltown Rd. Washington Township Planning Commission verified building rights at their May 14, 2024 meeting. Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to approve the transfer. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Business from the Floor:

There was no business from the floor.

Old Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor reminded residents that Ag Security applications are due in the Township Office by June 1st. Currently 2 applications have been submitted.

Bids were advertised to be open around 7:15 P.M. for seal coat and fog seal. Supervisor Harlen Anderson made a motion to approve the only bid from Russell Standard. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion.

New Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to adopt Resolution 2024-03 increasing elected auditors pay from $10.00 per hour to $18.00 per hour. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adopt Resolution 2024-04 America250PA Commemorative Celebration. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion.

There was a discussion to see what the Township can do to enforce residents to supply the Township with new deeds when a subdivision is approved as an add-on to a parcel. Acting Solicitor, Derek Maninfior said he will discuss this with Attorney Myers.

Supervisor Dan McGregor informed the residents that Goodwill has started to collect certain electronics. This should help residents with old computers, monitors, TV’s, mobile devices and more.

Solicitor’s Report:

Attorney Derek Maninfior was present. He reported that funds from the sale of 1970 Ridge Rd should soon be received and distributed. He also reported that Solicitor Sharon Myers is working on an addendum for the Fire Company Agreement and that she supplied the Supervisors samples of trash collection agreements.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $9,517.94 and the State Account totaling $2,779.48. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:31 P.M. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
