The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on August 21, 2023.

All Supervisors were present.

Chairman Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson made a motion to approve the July minutes as presented. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved by Supervisor Dan McGregor to be filed for audit. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following EMS reports. Penn State Health Life Lion EMS responded to 194 calls for the month of July, 9 were in Washington Township. 7 were handled by Penn State. Northern York County Fire Rescue EMS responded to 38 calls, 3 were in the Township. Wellsville Fire Company responded to 27 calls, 3 were in the Township. Northeast Adams Fire & EMS responded to 29 calls for the month, 4 were in the Township.

Representatives from Northeast Adams Fire & EMS introduced themselves, Dustin Avery, Cory Lease and Glenn Jansen. They provided information about the Fire Company since their merger with Lake Meade including apparatus, debt, income, and the future of the Fire Department. They expressed their desire to work with the municipalities and serve the needs of the communities.

Subdivision Plans:

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion for final approval for the Lesh Land Development Plans as presented. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion. This is for property at 776 baker’s Watering Trough Rd. East Berlin. Plans need to be recorded at the York County Court House and a recorded copy returned to the Township. Attorney Myers stated there will be Attorney fees that will need to be paid to the Township and possible Engineer fees.

Supervisor Dan McGregor closed the regular meeting at 7:27 P.M. to conduct the Comcast Hearing as advertised. Solicitor Sharon Myers opened the hearing by reviewing the latest agreement with Comcast. Residents John Peters and Emily Bailey made comments, mostly regarding the unavailability of Comcast service to residents of Washington Township. Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to close the hearing and reopen the regular meeting at 7:33 P.M. After brief discussion of the renewal agreement with Comcast, Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to approve Ordinance 2023-02, execution of the Cable Francise Agreement with Comcast. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion. The agreement is for 10 years.

Business from the Floor:

Resident Travis Sherman inquired about the truck signs that were placed on Bermudian Church Rd. Supervisor Anderson explained they were installed to try and cut down the heavy truck traffic in the area, due to so many complaints.

Old Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor reminded residents of Fall Clean-up on Thursday, September 21st from 8:00-3:30 and Saturday, September 23rd from 8:00-12:00.

New Business:

Supervisor Harlen Anderson made a motion for Township Representatives to attend the York County Township Convention on October 25th. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion for the Secretary to advertise the sale of the 1996 F 350 Dump Truck. Supervisor Dan McGregor seconded the motion. Sealed bids must be in the Township Office by Monday, September 18th at 3:00 P.M. Bids will be opened at Board of Supervisors meeting that night.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to appoint Dave Wilderson to the Planning Commission. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor informed residents of a cycling marathon that will be held on September 10th. Part of the race will go through Washington Township.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Sharon Myers did not have anything additional to discuss.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling

$11,159.81 and the State Account totaling $20,048.50. Supervisor Harlen Anderson seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 P.M. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
