The Washington Township Board of Supervisor’s met at the Municipal Building on October 16, 2023.

All Supervisors were present.

Supervisor Dan McGregor called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to approve the September 18th minutes as presented. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as read and to be filed for audit. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Dan McGregor read the following reports. Penn State Health Life Lion EMS had a total of 179 calls for the month of September. 2 calls were in Washington Township. Northern York County Fire Rescue EMS were dispatched to 26 calls for the month, one was in the Township. Wellsville Fire Company was dispatched to 18 calls, 2 calls were in the Township. Northeast Adams Fire & EMS were dispatched to 44 calls, 9 were in the Township.

Wellsville Fire Company Assistant Chief, Vince Brown, presented current reports and announced upcoming fundraisers; October 28th Gun Dinner, Lucky Number on November 4th ,and Meat Bingo November 18th. He also reported that Warrington Township Supervisors budgeted for 2 paid firemen beginning January 1st. Supervisor Dan McGregor asked if this will effect Washington Township’ portion of the Worker’s Comp payment. Vince stated he did not know any of the details.

Subdivision Plans:

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to have the Secretary sign the Sewage Planning Module for the subdivision for parcel JD-13 for GroffJulius Farms. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr seconded the motion. Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to approve the subdivision plan as presented for this parcel. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion. The plan separates a 2-acre lot for residential use and the remaining land as agriculture. There was an existing residence on the parcel which was demolished to make way for a new dwelling.

Business from the Floor:

New Pastor Angela Nett, from Red Mount Church in the Township, introduced herself. She would like to get to know the residents and invited everyone to a Christmas Cantata on December 31st.

Old Business:

Supervisor Dan McGregor reported that the 2024 proposed Budget is ready for inspection. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to have the Secretary advertise the budget for inspection. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion. The budget will be voted on at November’s Meeting.

New Business:

Supervisor Jeff Propps made a motion to have the Secretary advertise to appoint a certified public accounting firm at November’s Meeting to perform the 2023 audit, replacing the elected Auditors. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson made a motion to approve the Fire Protection Agreement with Northeast Fire & EMS. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.

Solicitor’s Report:

Solicitor Sharon Myers had nothing new to discuss before the Board.

Supervisor Dan McGregor made a motion to pay the bills out of the General Funds Account totaling $25,364.83 and the State Account totaling $2,782.40. Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. seconded the motion.

Supervisor Harlen Anderson, Jr. made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:19 P. M. Supervisor Jeff Propps seconded the motion.
